Hi
everyone!
As
the new season begins I am excited to return to
the Fort Henry Heights Skating Club (FHHSC) and
Loyalist Winter Club (LWC). These two clubs are
both volunteer based which means training costs
remain affordable by avoiding any additional director
and/or administrative fees. Both clubs have a
harness and offer weekly off-ice classes to compliment
their on ice training regime. FH and LWC are both
small, friendly clubs that foster a family atmosphere
that is positive and rewarding for its membership.
The skating days and times at both clubs compliment
each other and test days are shared (see my google
calendar for dates) resulting in additional testing
opportunities throughout the skating season. I
am looking forward to a great fall and winter
season.
As
I reflect on this past season I could not have
asked for anything more! This year was full of
wonderful memories including: a record breaking
number of Gold tests, an Interclub victory, Anna's
EOS Sectional medal, a trip to Challenge, the
Provincial Camp, and Emily's medal at StarSkate
Nationals in Fredericton & the completion
of 4 Skate Canada gold tests in less than 3 months
(just to name a few!) Media coverage was well-deserved
and will hopefully attract more youngsters to
our sport in this Olympic season!
During
the spring and summer I attended many seminars
and have taken some time to develop a seasonal
plan that will challenge my athletes. To highlight
a few of these initiatives please see the links
on the left to register for the monthly Fall Dance
Classes with Ebon and Off-Ice Training with Laura
Breck. Both instructors are back by popular demand!
Also check out my Google calendar regularly for
ongoing reminders regarding my availability, upcoming
competition & deadlines, billing dates, seminars
etc.
I
am also involved in a new venture known as Fineline
Conditioning and Athletic Academy. This is a new
off-ice training facility (opening October 1st)
that is geared to high performance athletes. I
will keep everyone informed as this program develops
but it will be great for my skaters to be able
to work out alongside other elite athletes from
a variety of sports.
Thanks
to everyone for their commitment and love of this
sport and for making my job so much fun! Be sure
to check out the new 2009 photos and skater of
the month awards that are now posted on the site.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the ice again
soon. If you have not yet confirmed your fall
and winter skating schedule please do so as soon
as possible.
Happy
Skating
